Arbitrarily Me

Over talking to you, hell yes!

1 note

My lack of gay friends is really starting to pester me.

There are problems that only guys understand and that is why I am glad I have guy friends. There are problems only girls understand and that is why I am glad I have an unholy amount of girl friends. Then there are those problems that only a gay guy can answer and I don’t have any of those, why is that? Maybe it’s the institutions I go to, but I don’t pin it on them. Maybe it’s my state, but I’m too proud of it sometimes to blame this problem on her. Then again maybe it’s just me, and the more I think about the answer to that question the more I start to think that it is the problem.

“Jaime,” she said, tugging on his ear, “sweetling, I have known you since you were a babe at Joanna’s breast. You smile like Gerion and fight like Tyg, and there’s some of Kevan in you, else you would not wear that cloak … but Tyrion is Tywin’s son, not you. I said so once to your father’s face, and he would not speak to me for half a year. Men are such thundering great fools. Even the sort who come along once in a thousand years.”

You think so? I do too!

Sophie took it especially hard when Howl said there wasn’t a point in living if he wasn’t beautiful because he basically implied that she herself had no point in living. I love that, by helping Howl to find his heart, Sophie also strengthens her own in the sense that she gains confidence in her own beauty. It’s telling how Howl compliments her silver hair, since silver hair is generally a mark of old age and wisdom. In a way, both of them have matured since the beginning of the movie, and it’s almost as if he’s complimenting her for this too. What I think is most wonderful about the scene where he calls her hair beautiful is that it’s probably one of the first truly heartfelt compliments he’s given anyone since he lost his heart as a boy. He always had a charm about him, but before meeting Sophie it was pretty obvious that it was superficial given his self-absorbed attitude.

“It all goes back and back, to our mothers and fathers and theirs before them. We are puppets dancing on the strings of those who came before us, and one day our own children will take up our strings and dance in our steads.”

A Storm

It’s not the his body, his smile, or the way his eyes light up when we talk about his favorite things, it is the way I can feel a calm from the storm I constantly share an island with. It is the way he can make me feel comfortable and that is why he is a subject I bring up frequently. I’m not pathetic or love locked, I just want the calm I felt with him and since no one seems apt enough to fish me out of this storm of course I am going to reminiscence on a quieter and calmer time. I don’t think he will ever know how I feel or even care, but truth be told I do feel that way.
